The gift-giving, buying-things-for-yourself, thinking-about-getting-back-into-shape-sometime-in-January season is upon us. To help get into the spirit, today we bring you 10 “gadgets” that we, our customers, and various health and travel experts have found most useful to maintain health and good habits on the move.

Let’s jump in.

Fitness gadgets

1. Resistance bands. For physical fitness, the consensus top recommendation among dozens of experts—including airfare favorites Chris (@fittest_travel), Krista (@12minuteathlete), and Fernando (@fitaviatorsclub)—are resistance bands. There are tons to choose from, and we like these.

2. Fitness backpack. For adding some weight to a workout, Chris (@fittest_travel) recommended this pack, which doubles as a sandbag or a weight in various exercises. Looks sweet.

3. Gymnastic rings or pullup handles. With some extra room in the car or checked bag, either of these options will level-up a strength training session away from home. Justin has seen immense benefits after his trainer, Marco (@marcomeyermoves), recommended these rings a few years ago. These pullup handles are similar, and both have the versatility to use in various places around a house or hotel room.

Food and drink gadgets

4. Tumbler. We always travel with our Kinto tumblers. Tea, water, coffee, smoothies and more can travel well in cars, trains and bikes. And we also bring it empty to the airport to fill up at water stations or even to hold a to-go cold brew or juice. The trusty Kinto maintains temperature and prevents spillage, and it also has a second top to prevent splashing. All-around winner.

5. Snacks. Duh. Seriously, the only reason we got into this business was because snacks keep us going in the air, on a bike, in a the car, or at the office. One recent air travel habit we developed is bringing a banana and Spread The Love Naked Peanut Butter Packet. With 8 grams of protein and 280 calories, it’s filling, convenient, and delicious.

Sleep gadgets

6. Eye mask. Just start sleeping with an eye mask. Yes, it’s uncomfortable at first. Push through it and get better sleep. Anyone who has flown on a red eye flight knows how \ good sleep impacts how we feel and think. Keeping external light out of our eyes is looking like an important factor in getting quality sleep. While Justin still relies on the sleeve of his long-sleeve shirt, Geremy prefers this simple eye mask.

7. White noise app. Any simple white noise app can block out early-rising family members, rattling pipes, and crying children on the airplane. Having one like this ready on your phone will keep you ready for rest at any turn.

8. Headlamp. Even if holiday travel is more family visits and less spelunking, a lightweight, powerful headlamp can make a huge difference in the evening routine. Both for yourself and your housemates, avoiding using overhead lights for a late-night bathroom run in the hotel room is the considerate move. This one has a two-setting red light as well, which makes reading at night easier on the eyes and has been shown to pave the way for better sleep.

Mental health gadgets

9. Meditation app. Our team meditates regularly to calm down, recharge, and even to fall asleep. These habits become especially important when flying, on the road, at a conference, or sleeping in an unfamiliar bed. Our favorites apps to use are Headspace and Waking Up.

10. AirPods Pro. Geremy especially is a full AirPod evangelist. These powerhouse tech tools can block out external noise or even amplify it when in nature or in conversation. To maintain sanity during the buzzsaw of holiday travel, control the inputs. Plus, they appear to be perfectly safe. “Hey, Siri, tell everyone to shush.”

Any of these can improve your health away from home. Get all 10 and you’ll be one fit, hydrated, smartly-nourished, well-rested, Zen’d-out traveler.
