Bruce Namenson has an inspiring story.

At age 50, he changed his diet, his career, and his life, eventually leading to one of the highest quality, most innovative, and—of course—healthiest snack companies in existence: Healthy Truth.

In his former life, Bruce was an attorney. He started working as a cop and wanted dive deeper into the legal side of his work, so he went to law school. After graduation, he worked as a public defender, putting as much care into helping each person as he would eventually would put into the creation of high-quality snacks.

Then in 2010, Bruce was looking to start over, so he first changed his diet…again. The first diet exploration came in college, when Bruce was a power lifter and body builder, and he came across some books that changed the way he ate.

“I grew up in a diabetic household never having access to sugary soft drinks, candy, or sugary snacks," Bruce said. "I was also an avid health enthusiast, having read a book as a teenager about a Harvard doctor who traveled around the world identifying what diseases each culture had and what foods potentially caused their maladies.”

At 18 years old, Bruce stopped eating red meat and dairy and noticed immediate benefit. Then at 50, he further changed his diet, cutting out chicken. At age 53, he went full-on plant-based.

Along with the diet adjustments, Bruce continued to change his career. A colleague wanted to start a plant-based restaurant, and even with no experience, Bruce leaned into his adventurous spirit and jumped into the food business. And we're fortunate he did, because his schooling in the snack-making world eventually led to Healthy Truth. "That's where it all started," Bruce said.

One thing Bruce began doing at the restaurant was experimenting with a dehydrator after learning how it worked from the chef. He had the idea of making healthy versions of snacks and foods everyone already loved. When the restaurant folded a few years later, Bruce—now with some snack-making practice under his belt—bought some equipment and started making snacks.

Healthy Truth is born

“My partner and I started Organic Living Superfoods/Healthy Truth in December 2014 out of an office in my house with a single dehydrator, ” Bruce said. “Our mission was to create the healthiest snacks on the planet using only whole-food ingredients, no refined sugars, chemicals, or preservatives, and make them plant-based and delicious.” '

They’ve certainly delivered. Healthy Truth, to us, stands at the nexus of innovation and high standards for quality, health, and taste.

First, HT has produced some of the most unique snacks we’ve seen. You may have already tried their pizza-flavored or salt and vinegar almonds in your airfare order. This week, we’re bringing in even more of that creativity, with cashews two ways and a tasty cinnamon snack (more on the new additions below).

As for quality—HT's standards are on another level. They inspect every single part of the snacks' sourcing, from the origin of raw materials right up through manufacturing and packaging.

“We require certificates of analysis for each product, phyto-sanitary certificates from the port of origin denoting the product has not been sprayed with pesticides, specification sheets, organic certifications, and any other applicable certifications, such as kosher and gluten free,” Bruce said. “We hold our partners, and above all, ourselves, to the highest standard.”

Healthy Truth’s innovation and high-quality sourcing and production processes lead to that essential third quality—taste. Don’t believe us? Try them for yourself.

Good enough for Tom Brady, good enough for us

One last thing to mention. There are a few famous people who agree with our evaluation of innovation, quality and taste. One of them is the G.O.A.T. himself—TB12.

That’s right, Healthy Truth makes all of the snacks—including raw, healthy protein bars and a grain-free granola—for Tom Brady's line of sports supplements and foods under the brand TB12.

And TB12 is just the beginning. Bruce and the HT family aren’t big name droppers, but if you push them on it, you’ll see that they've been hired by a slew of professional and college sports teams to keep their players fed and healthy, a mission we know well. 😊

Bottom line: the HT team takes care of the best in the world. And that’s why we’re bringing them to you.

The new snacks

Enough story time, let's get to the good stuff. We're adding three new Healthy Truth snacks to our growing assortment—two versions of cashews and some cinnamon crunch.

Sprouted TGC Cashews. This one is for the spice lovers out there; it's not for the faint of heart. All of you blandies, steer clear. But if you like spicy, and you like a kick in your nuts (see what we did there?), you’re going to love these.

Sprouted Coconut-Crusted Cashews. These are for people on the other side of the flavor spectrum, and we love them equally. Who says we can’t have our cashews and eat them too? The mixture of coconut and date on these cashews leads to a sweet, buttery goodness that is hard to describe. You’ll have to try them to find out.

Ceylon Cinnamon Crunch. This unique snack adds a new element to what you can put in your next snack pouch. It's a sweet-savory mix embedded in clusters of what seem like granola but instead are crunchy pieces of sunflower seeds and coconut chips. Feel free to tilt this package and dump the cinnamon goodness right into your mouth mid-flight.

As a bonus, HT chose to use the king of cinnamon, Ceylon, which has significantly lower amounts of the toxin coumarin than the type of cinnamon commonly found across store shelves in the U.S., called, Cassia. Okay, we're done with the nerdery. Carry on and grab some Ceylon Crunch.
